Found Tonight – March For Our Lives

Found Tonight for March for our Lives

Found Tonight for March for our Lives
Over the last 24 hours, I’ve listened to this song at least 30 times. It is a mashup of 2 of my favorite Broadway songs from the last 5 years, “The Story of Tonight” from Hamilton and “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen. It is a collaboration to be a theme song for March for our Lives this weekend.

It’s a song of hope for our friends, our children, our neighbors, and all those who have been affected by gun violence, particularly in schools. I don’t even know how to come up with words to express the sickness and distress I feel about how frequently guns are destroying families and communities. So I’ll let this beautiful song speak for itself.

Have you ever felt like nobody was there?
Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere?
Have you ever felt like you could disappear?
Like you could fall, and no one would hear?

Well, let that lonely feeling wash away
Maybe there’s a reason to believe you’ll be okay
‘Cause when you don’t feel strong enough to stand
You can reach, reach out your hand

And oh, someone will coming running
And I know, they’ll take you home

Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
And when you’re broken on the ground
You will be found

So let the sun come streaming in
‘Cause you’ll reach up and you’ll rise again
Lift your head and look around
You will be found

I don’t have the answers to make it all better. But I will be marching this Saturday in Detroit with my friends and my daughter.

I have hope that it can be better.
